1 min read

MaoyuWhile Sentai Filmworks has Maoyu coming to DVD and Blu-ray in June, The Anime Network is getting in on the game now by bringing out the twelve episode series by the creator who also brought about Log Horizon on their service. The series aired originally in the winter 2013 anime season and was licensed for home video release, though it didn’t get a dub, so the streaming is the original Japanese with subtitles. The anime adapts the light novels of the same name by Mamare Touno that ran for eight volumes between 2010 and 2012. It also spawned five manga series that kicked off and are still ongoing.

You can view the episodes here.

Plot concept: Hero, the Humans’ greatest warrior, must bring an end to 15 years of war by slaying the dreaded Demon King. But his plan is quickly upended when he goes “mano-a-mano” with the enemy, only to reveal that the Demon King is really the Demon Queen! Together they vow to join forces and bring peace to their severed world.
