No Game, No Life | Episode 2no-game-no-life-episode-02

GingaDaiuchuu: That was way more hilarious than I expected. Really great comedic timing and exaggeration. I’d argue that falling in love counting as a “small favor” doesn’t seem quite right, but I guess it was so inevitable with or without a pledge that it’s hardly even a reward.

I’m really loving the mind games and how deeply each side thinks about what level the other will be thinking on to try to choose the winning option. Sora’s brilliance (and Shiro’s as well) is always fascinating to watch, but seeing the contrast with his extreme weaknesses is both very funny and important to balance out his character, especially with his NEET/hikikomori life.

EmperorBrandon: Interesting seeing that scene where they become unwound when Steph throws Sora through the door. I do wonder if we will get to a point in the series where they will have to overcome being apart.

Nork22: Oh gotta love the over the top moment when Sora asked Steph to fall in love with him. And the over the top reaction between the siblings were priceless. And some funny 4th wall breaking with how he comments it will be child porn if Mr Steam wasn’t there.

Sensuifu: That was good, though Shiro pointing out the obvious was even better. Big bistake on Sora’s part, though I would’ve expected Steph to thank Shiro for pointing out that observation… but seeing how she’s really in love with Sora, I guess it wouldn’t have mattered.

Looks like there’ll be plenty of mind games coming up. It’ll be interesting to see how well the siblings can play without each other. I’m sensing some upcoming opponent is going to make a condition that either one of them can’t assist the other…by requiring them to be separated during ‘gameplay’. It’ll be a huge handicap for either of them since they’re so dependent on each other. Very intriguing to see if it does happen since the two suffer some serious insecurities by being apart. I’m curious to see how they’ll overcome it, if that is what will happen.

bctaris: So I was getting a little worried it was pushing the usual imouto line for a little bit there, but then the show nicely poked a lot of fun at it all, with Stephanie’s comments, 4th wall stuff, etc. And then the emotional break scene, which really put the siblings’ relationship in the correct light (for them), where they’ve really only had each other all this time–a not unusual characterization at all.

And I do like Steph. Come to think of it, I can’t recall the last anime character that used “Stephanie”; and I like how, of course, it quickly gets shortened. Because I’ve never known a Stephanie I didn’t also just call Steph.

EyeOfPain: I don’t consider myself to be a slow person, but I had to rewind [the rock-paper-scissors] scene about four times before I figured out what was going on, but I’m not sure I buy what amounts to bluffing as really that impressive. Had I been watching that live, I don’t think I would have gotten it at all. Some of the scenes with Steph’s reactions were amusing, but that “game” soured the whole thing for me.

Sensuifu: the staff probably spent weeks figuring out if the logic holds, so it’s no surprise a lot of people are lost in its convoluted explanation. It could also be that something might’ve been lost in translation, which occasionally happens.
