While we’ve had two trailers before that have shown off some solid scenes and a bit of repetition as you’d expect, the third and final trailer ahead of the release next month has landed and it’s almost entirely new footage. Which is kind of a rare thing in a lot of ways but this new trailer, with its focus on Wolverine as the unifying force for it, definitely sets the right tone and shows off the power of the film and the storyline that it wants to work with. While there’s some expected frustration with it being another Wolverine lead film, there’s definitely a lot of appeal in it since he has to take the team that’s in such disarray and bring it together that it has the right blend of humor to it. Especially considering what fans know Logan has been through in the future storyline. While I’m still hedging my bets on this since I’m wary of Singer in general and his style of directing, there’s a whole lot to like here and the tone is just perfect if it can carry it off.
The film is set for a May 23rd, 2014 release.
Directed by Bryan Singer, the film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Omar Sy, and Halle Berry.
