Marvel Comics may be owning the theaters, but DC Comics is making serious headway on the small screen. The latest property of theirs to get the nod is that of Scalped, a sixty issue series that ran under the Vertigo Comics imprint back in 2007 through 2012. The original work was produced by Jason Aaron and R.M. Guera and now it’s being developed by WGN America with Doug Jung producing. Jung, who has earned some good credits while working on Banshee that deals with small town politics, an Native American reservation and an Amish population, seems like an ideal fit to develop this as he’s going to write the pilot for Warner Horizon Television.

Plot Concept: Fifteen years ago, Dashiell “Dash” Bad Horse ran away from a life of abject poverty and utter hopelessness on the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation searching for something better. Now he’s come back home armed with nothing but a set of nunchucs, a hell-bent-for-leather attitude and one dark secret, to find nothing much has changed on “The Rez” – short of a glimmering new casino, and a once-proud people overcome by drugs and organized crime. Is he here to set things right or just get a piece of the action? On sale January 2
