You don’t see this as often as you used to, but it does happen from time to time. The Japanese release on DVD and Blu-ray for the new spring 2014 anime series Mekaku City Actors has been announced and it’s certainly interesting. The show, slotted for twelve episodes, will be getting twelve releases, one episode per release, beginning on June 25th, 2014. On the positive side, the cost is probably close to the same if not cheaper than the usual six volume releases, but it will take up a bit of real estate on your shelf. The DVDs are being priced at 2,800 yen each while the Blu-ray releases are scheduled for 3,200 yen each.

The first volume lists that it will have an audio commentary with it, a special booklet and a bonus CD that will provide one of the songs in its full version and in instrumental form. The second through fourth volumes, which is all that’s broken out so far, all list the same but with undisclosed tracks for the CDs.

Plot concept: Shintaro Kisaragi, a HikiNEET who shut himself inside his room for 2 years, had been living his life normally until he met a cyber girl named Ene, who appeared in his computer screen when someone anonymously sent him a mysterious e-mail one year ago. One day, Ene messes with Shintaro’s PC which causes him to go outside for the first time in two years.
