Crunchyroll is ensuring there’s a few sports shows on this season now that Kuroko’s Basketball has left the stage and one of those that will be there is Baby Steps. The series is set to debut on April 6th at 6am ET for premium members while free members can catch it a week later. The series has a pretty good bit of availability to it as it will be open to viewers in the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (Central and South America including Caribbean), UK, Ireland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, and Turkey.
The series is a sports manga adaptation that’s from the manga by Hikaru Katsuki that will debut for the spring season. NGK is producing it for their E-Tele channel with Kenji Saito handling it. The series is one that like many sports shows just aren’t heard all that much about for North American fans, but the title began back in 2007 and is about to ship its twenty-eighth volume while a twenty-ninth is set for mid-January. That’s a lot of material to work from, even for a sports series.
Plot concept: Based on the original manga by Hikaru Katsuki, Baby Steps centers on a honor student named Eiichiro Maruo who becomes frustrated with his life and decides to join the tennis club. Despite lacking experience and physical strength, he utilizes his studious nature to develop a strategic approach to playing tennis. Taking notes of his opponents’ habits and tendencies, he is able to predict their next move before they even react. He also meets Natsu Takasaki, a beautiful girl with a passion for tennis. With her help, he aims to become a professional tennis player.
