Ahead of the April 5th, 2014 debut of Captain Earth, a new magazine spread image has surfaced that may turn a few heads and draw them to the show with the most unfortunate of names for Western anime fans as I always think it’s Captain Planet. The new image gives us a look at Akari in a fairly standard outfit on the beach with a cute one-piece, complete with bow and boomerang, while the sexier side of it comes from Hana. Rina Hidaka has taken on the role of Akari for the series while Ai Kayano will be playing Hana Mutou. Click the image below for a larger look at the fun in the sun.
The series comes from the same team that worked on Star Driver, Bone, and is set for an April debut. It’s set to be directed by Takuya Igarashi with scripts by by Yoji Enokido. Character designs are being done by Satoshi Ishino based on the original designs by Fumi Minato. Check out the full cast and staff breakdown below the video.
Plot concept: One night right before summer vacation, Daiji Manatsu, a second-year in high school, sees a weird round rainbow floating in the sky above Seed Island (Shuushi/Tane Island) and ventures there alone. He has seen this rainbow before. With the memories of his father’s mysterious death and an encounter of a mysterious boy and girl, Daiji arrives on the island while the alarm of a building labeled “Earth Engine” is going off. Someone asks him “Are you a captain?” just as robotic intruders from Uranus called “Kiltgang” arrive. The battle around the shining stars is about to begin.
