‘Helix’ Gets Second Season Renewal

1 min read

HelixWhile not quite the sci-fi that fans may have been hoping for, it’s been an interesting journey with the Syfy series Helix since it debuted at the start of January 2014. The show, which has Ron Moore as a creator and co-executor producer, is set to bring out the season finale tonight on the network and it’s now gotten a second season green light. Produced by Sony TV, the series is looking to return in winter 2015, though with a bit of a reduced cast considering the events of this season. The premiere broke Syfy L+3 records by gaining 64% in 18-49 to 1.2 million and 53% in total viewers. Since then, the series has averaged 2.1 million total viewers, 1.1 million adults 25-54 and 1 million adults 18-49.

Helix has built one of our most loyal and consistent audiences in its first season on Syfy,” said Bill McGoldrick, EVP Original Content. “The incredibly talented writing and producing team have crafted a thriller that consistently delivered suspense, twists and high quality drama.”

Plot concept: Researchers investigate a viral outbreak at an arctic bioresearch station, only to discover that it has disastrous and wider implications for the entire world.
