While most shows end up getting individual volume releases and eventually a box set, The Pilot’s Love Song, aka Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta, skipped that route and went right to the box set side of things. The series, which is currently simulcasting on Crunchyroll and has been picked up for North American release from NIS America, now is set for a July 30th, 2014 release date in separate DVD and Blu-ray box sets. The DVD set will be priced at 28,350 yen while the Blu-ray is priced at 34,650 yen. The set will have all thirteen episodes and will include bonus first press items of a special booklet and soundtrack inside the specially illustrated box. On disc extras at the moment include a commentary track. The set will have the thirteen episodes spread across three discs.

Plot concept: As a beautiful daughter of the noble family del Moral, Fana was proposed by Prince Carlo, who is the crown prince of their country Levamme. However, since Levamme is at war with Amatsuvian, the marriage had to wait until the war ends. Meanwhile, as a bestado, the lowest caste in Levamme, Charles had always dreamed of flying and eventually became the ace pilot of the air force. Although he was often mistreated, a glorious chance came about when the Amatsuvian bombarded del Moral’s home in order to get rid of the future empress. Charles was then entrusted with the top secret mission of delivering the princess to the prince.
