While we knew previously a number of the actors that were going to be involved in the anime adaptation of the light novel series Rokujyoma no Shinryakusha!? (Invaders of the Rokujyoma!?), we didn’t know which characters they were going to be playing. Now that information has landed from the staff at the AnimeJapan 2014 panel this weekend and the breakdown is available:

  • Yūichi Nakamura as Kōtarō Satomi
  • Eri Suzuki as the ghost Sanae Higashihongan
  • Hikari Omori as the magical girl Yurika Nijino
  • Masumi Tazawa as the underground dweller Kiriha Kurano
  • Maria Naganawa as the space alien Theiamillia Gre Fortorthe
  • Ayana Taketatsu as Karama, a haniwa (clay grave figure)
  • Aoi Yūki as Korama, another haniwa
  • Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Kenji Matsudaira, a childhood friend of Kōtarō’s

In addition to this breakdown, part of the cast is coming together under the tentative name of Shinryakusha Unit in order to perform the opening theme song, which will include Hikari Omori, Eri Suzuki, Masumi Tazawa, and Maria Naganawa.

The series comes from the light novels by Takehaya with artwork by Poco that kicked off in 2009 and has fourteen volumes released so far. The series is set to be directed by Shin Oonuma at Silver Link while the original creator, Takehaya will servce as the series director. Character designs are being handled by Hideki Furukawa who is adapting them from Poko’s original designs. Furukawa is also serving as storyboard director while Shogo Yasukawa is handling the series overall composition.

Plot concept: Due to young Koutarou’s financial circumstances, he is forced to live in a small rokujouma (6-tatami apartment) on a budget of 5000 yen a month. On the plus side, he lives rent-free, but on the minus side, that’s because room 106 of Corona Apartments is cursed. The ghost is a cute young girl, and hijinks ensue when she tries to drive him out. Between the haunting, Koutarou’s nosy neighbors, and a self-styled magical girl flying to the unneeded rescue, there’s way too much for the impoverished young man to handle.
