Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha Episode 10
Buckeye: That’s a nice way to end this show. It was short, but definitely sweet here seeing how cute Inari acts in this show. It’s a show that builds friendships and bonds through crazy stuff. Inari is back to being the girl she once was, but knowing full well that she has friends that she can’t see keeping her company.
Overall, this show was a fun ride that was just too short. Inari acted pretty cute in this show, as well as those foxes. It has a solid storyline, one that was very interesting. I like all of the craziness and misunderstandings that happen in this show. But having only ten episodes to tell a complete story just meant that there were some things that had to be rushed or cut out. In particular, the relationship between Touka and Uka was not as well-developed as I wanted it to, as well as the one between Inari and Tanbabashi. But the relationship between Inari and Uka is the most important one, and that one was done pretty nicely.
EmperorBrandon: This episode is pretty much pure Inari and Uka. Took her a while to get to her, and lots of determination in opening up the path to her. Ootoshi actually gets to put in a rather serious effort for once, though he has his comic relief too right when the Inari bunch arrives. Ah, and a bit of comic relief with Inari and transparent Uka, too…
Very emotional with Inari and Uka finally seeing each other. They both had things they held back on telling the other, things they felt sorry over, but ultimately they were so positive about each other. Inari gives her divine power back to Uka, and that moment later when she’s with her friends and really realizes what it means… the tears. It looks like Uka will still be able to watch over Inari and friends, but there’s no hint of Inari being able to see her again. There is an upside that she knows she’s there and happy about it, but still… feels this one actually ended rather conclusively rather than giving us a stopping point, which is nice if there is no more, but dang, if I still hope there will be more of the anime (love the characters so much I may even want to dig into the manga). Going to be curious to see if that upcoming OVA will be set earlier in the series, or if they actually give us something after this episode.
Library-chan: Nice ending, but I’ve left wondering why Touka can can see Uka. It’s not explained.
Nork22: Kinda explained back in episode 1-2. Uka mentions that certain humans who have a high enough spiritual aptitude can see the gods. Example would be the few shrine maidens who can see Uka. Touka may be one of the few lucky ones that have it. That and I believe his Chunibyo syndrome had something to do with it as well
stardf29: Well, that was definitely an ending. I’m sure the original manga continues past this point, but as far as this adaptation is concerned, it’s wrapped things up to become a relatively self-contained story in and of itself. I personally would have liked to have Inari and Uka-sama be able to see each other again, but I guess this ending works in its own way, at least as far as Inari now being more of a “normal” girl who believes in kami (albeit with more faith than most, perhaps).
Still needs more Uka x Touka, though.
My love for shows like this with major spiritual themes is definitely no secret. Despite this show’s criminally short length (and I’m still planning to smack Kadokawa for making this only 10 episodes), it explores so many great themes, both in human-divine relations and in human-human relations, that it really has been a great joy to follow it. This is definitely one of this season’s best shows and kicks off the the year of 2014 for anime to a great start.
Sly05: Quite a good ending given that its anime original. It also left enough open for a continuation of it ever gets green lighted.
As I’ve mentioned previously, I was a bit nervous about the series as many of its staff don’t have the best resumes, but I think they really proved themselves here. It has been one of the highlights of the season for me.
[Notice: manga chapter-episode ratio comparison below.]
The anime covered up to chapter 24 or so, but the manga is still ongoing and has at least 38 chapters released so there is totally more material that could be adapted into anime. What was animated was also condensed and they left a bunch of stuff out to fit it into ten episodes.
For those who liked the anime and want more, the manga is very good so I’d definitely recommend it.
