Tonari no Seki-kun Episode 10
Nothing wastes time like a round or two of golf…

What They Say:
Class is in session at a certain high school. While the teacher isn’t looking, a boy named Seki-kun is playing games by himself on his desk, while the girl who sits next to him, Yokoi-san, observes (or interferes or participates). Each time, Seki-kun’s games reach unimaginable levels… And this time the game is…

Taking a turn outside of the classroom again, we’re set up for an art class where once again Seki just doesn’t bother with his supplies and engages in fun. The fun this time around is that because the desks are old and pitted, he can play a round of golf across it and get a miniature club and ball to work with. That frustrates Yokoi of course, but she’s actually easily impressed by what he’s capable of doing. While there’s plenty of fun here, especially with how he keeps coming up with new holes to work with, we see how Goto gets caught up in what the two are doing, but she takes it as a whole romance that’s blossoming. She really wants to be Yokoi’s friend but this ends up distracting her immensely all while Seki proves he’s a master golfer. Amusingly, while Yokoi has such a vivid imagination about the games Seki plays, Goto is a relationship dreamer and totally misreads their situation, to some great imagined moments.

In Summary:
While we’ve had a touch of other characters before, Goto is an amusing addition overall because she takes a much more active role in things. Her view of the others, since she’s behind them in art class, provides a view that we don’t get since the pair usually are at the back themselves. You’d think Yokoi would be a bit more observant, though it’s obvious Seki doesn’t care much. Doubling up on our imaginative dreamers is definitely amusing here and you once again have to give props to Seki for finding a creative way to pass time in a class he doesn’t care for.
