While there’s certainly some familiarity to be had with this property since Broken Blade was released as a six part OVA series when originally released, it’s still fun to see how it’s going to be promoted as it shifts into TV mode. The series that comes from the manga by Yunosuke Yoshinaga is getting a bit of a tweak as it’s going to be broadcast as a TV series with new animation mixed in, presumably to handle episode breaks better mostly, but also with some new material that wasn’t animated in the adaptation as it stands. There’s also going to be a full spinoff OVA that will be focusing on the mystery of Delphine’s creation that’s coming from Yoshinaga directly for the concept. No release date for the OVA is set yet nor is there a broadcast season for the recompiled series itself.

You can read our review of the OVA series that Sentai Filmworks released here and here as well as the UK release here. Crunchyroll began streaming the original OVA series back in late 2012.

Plot concept: In Cruzon, children are born with the ability to control quartz. This power allows them to levitate simple objects – or control enormous and complex mobile battle suits called Golems. But when an ancient Golem is discovered during the height of a brutal war, a young king and his beautiful queen turn to Rygart Arrow. Though an “un-sorcerer,” Rygart can miraculously pilot this ancient and powerful weapon. But in war, school friends can turn into bitter enemies and allies have suspicious motives.
