Oneechan ga Kita Episode 8
It’s New Year’s time and that has Ichika all up in Tomoya.

What They Say:
Tomoya’s father remarries to another woman, giving him a stepsister, Ichika. However Ichika is 17-years old and has completely fallen in love with her stepbrother who is only 13!! Families will collide in the most unusual fashion this season, in the new anime short: ONEE-CHAN GA KITA!

The new year has arrived in the show and that means lots of family oriented fun for this odd little family. With Ichika enjoying her kimono and taking her first pictures of the year of Tomoya, she’s hoping for good wishes at the shrine and plenty of silly time with all her girlfriends – which is marred a bit by some competition that comes along. Because we’ve had a fair number of characters introduced so far, it gets busy fast but it has a very good feeling about it. Which Ichika takes up a few notches with her personality by making it even more chaotic.

In Summary:
There’s never a lot of really meaty material to a show like this but this one feels even more empty in a way, though it certainly makes me smile. Giving us the gang at a shrine for new years is pretty standard fare stuff and we get some admiration from the girls as they see other “couples” and wonder why they aren’t as close as them. But mostly it’s just a lot of frantic energy going off here with some awkward moments and comical bits that certainly get a chuckle and a smile. You continue to feel for Tomoya, though you also know it could be a lot worse for him.
