‘The Messengers’ Pilot Adds Cast

2 min read

The CWCasting for the pilot for The Messengers on The CW is going pretty well as they’ve added Sofia Black-D’Elia and Joel Courtney to it. She comes from Skins while he was in the theatrical feature Super 8. Black-D’Elia will play Erin, who despite the stresses in her life, is eager to make a new life for herself and her young daughter far away from her hot-headed ex-husband. Courtney is set for Peter, a loner who was raised in a group home and is bullied constantly.

The Messengers comes from CBS TV Studios and film produced Basil Iwanyk of the Clash of the Titans films. This new series has some interesting talent with Teen Wolf writer Eoghan O’Donnell while Ted Humphrey of The Good Wife is on as a supervising producer. The Iwanyk’s Thunder Road Televsion group is working on this alongside CBS TV Studios in the hopes of making the cut on the growing genre side of the network. The CW already has pilot orders in for The Flash, which is practically guaranteed a lock unless it screws up badly, iZombie and a Supernatural spinoff series called Identity.

Plot concept: The Messengers starts with a mysterious object crashing down to earth. A group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from the energy pulse, but then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse. (A previous description identified the awoken strangers as angels of the coming Apocalypse).
