Discotek Media Sets ‘Ringing Bell’ & ‘DNA 2’ Anime Release Dates

2 min read

Discotek Media has set up a few dates for titles acquired during 2013 that will please fans. Firstly, they’ve scheduled DNA 2, the complete collection, for release on June 24th where it will contain all fifteen episodes of that series that were produced. Since it was previously licensed by Central Park Media, a dub is available for it and will be included alongside the original Japanese language track and English subtitles. The series was licensed back in November 2013.

Also set for release on June 24th release is Ringing Bell, one of the older classics out there which was licensed back in July 2014. This release will contain the original Japanese language track with English subtitles as well as the previously produced dub. It will also included a newly commissioned commentary track by Mike Toole. The work, directed by Masami Hata based on the creation by Takashi Yanase, is a 47 minute piece that has seen an English release before and an English dub was produced which included Chirin played by Barbara Goodson (lamb), Joan Gerber as Chirin’s mother and Aron Kincaid as Wolf.

Plot concept: Karin, a DNA operator from the future, is on a mission to change the course of History by stopping Junta Momonari from becoming the Mega-Playboy who fathered 100 children and led to the overpopulation of the world. But Junta is no playboy; in fact he is allergic to girls. But when Karin shoots him with the wrong DNA-altering bullet, he starts sporadically becoming the Mega-Playboy capable of charming any woman. Karin must try to restore the situation to normal before the change to Mega-Playboy becomes irreversible.

Ringing Bell

Plot Concept: A baby lamb named Chirin is devastated when his mother is killed by a wolf who raids the farm in the night. Seeking revenge, he must become like the very thing he wishes to destroy, and he must venture far beyond the safety his home and childhood into the wilderness to seek the fearsome Wolf King.

Ringing Bell starts off as a children’s film but quickly merges into a darkly toned story of the laws of nature and revenge. It has also been viewed in the past as a cautionary tale about venturing away from home, nonconformity and revenge.
