Award winning Harold Ramis has died today at his home surrounded by friends and family due to  complications related to auto-immune inflammatory vasculitis, something he’d battled for four years. Ramis leads behind his wife, Erica Mann, and three adult children. Ramis was a staple of the 1980’s for many film fans with his work in Stripes and Ghostbusters among others, and continued to act up until 2009 when the diagnosis came in, which stopped him from most of what he was working on. Ramis got his start back with Second City TV back in 1976 and did a lot of writing, acting and moved on to directing as time went on. While he’s known in front of the camera for his most famous role as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters, he also directed a lot of very popular movies from National Lampoon’s Vaction to Groundhog Day as well as the classic Caddyshack. His comedy writing credits are extensive with work in some of the biggest movies of the 80’s and several for years after that.
