Engaged to the Unidentified (Mikakunin de Shinkokei) Episode 7 | TFP Review
Hitsugi Amachi: It sure as hell took its time, but the show finally got a little interesting, thanks to the firm introductions of Konoha and Niko into the flow of things. Hakuya and Kobeni are really both as boring as wooden planks. One’s the perfect doormat wife; the other is a dog, quite literally—and while some real dogs can have playful personalities, Hakuya is one of those really boring dogs, which makes for an incredibly dull human.
Konoha, on the other hand, is nuts, but more importantly she’s brought conflict into show, which it desperately needed. It was really just too damn boring and the Benio/Mashiro humor train had basically let off most of its passengers at all the previous stops. When you add Niko onto Konoha’s nuttiness, it’s a shot of humor back into the show.
And who would have guessed that there would be a love triangle with Hakuya as the focus? This actually makes it more interesting, since Konoha and Hakuya share something Kobeni doesn’t have, but Hakuya is only interested in Kobeni.
I was ready to drop this show today, but it just bought itself another episode of viewing.
EmperorBrandon: Heh, I love how Mashiro says stuff about Benio to paint her as a crazed pervert (as she is), and that just riles up Konoha in jealousy even more. Didn’t see it coming that she was going to be “one of them”. A little interested in where they will go with that.
stardf29: Ooh, at first this just seemed to be a fun little filler episode, but then they drop yet another plot-bomb on us: Konoha is one of them, too! I definitely was not expecting that. Looking forward to seeing how that affects things going forward.
GingaDaiuchuu: Ah, I thought I was just experiencing another fun filler of sorts, but it turns out Konoha is the same sort of creature as the Mitsumines. I guess the coming episode should be pretty substantial after all. At any rate, her and Niko are a great pair, and her romantic interest in Hakuya should serve to shake up that very dry romance a little. I still can’t imagine how any girl could fall for Hakuya, let alone two, but this is anime after all. I’m interested to see if Konoha has some kind of specific power that will be important in the next episode or so.
Sensuifu: tottemo pheromones.
The new characters should make things more interesting. Still waiting for more of the supernatural reveals to pop up though, since anything regarding them only ends up as quips that don’t really advance the story. Hopefully we’ll get more answers.
