Set for release in May 2014, the $160 million budgeted Godzilla relaunch has been kind of quiet since we got the first teaser trailer late last year. The ramp-up for it will definitely pick up soon as more of the summer films begin their marketing onslaught and this one is no exception as we now have a new theatrical poster that shows off our titular character and just how big he is in comparison to his environment.
The film comes from Gareth Edwards through Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros., who will be handling it worldwide outside of Japan as Toho has control over that. The film is one that’s important in a number of ways of course, but for those that follow the business side, it’s the last film coproduced between Legendary and Warners, which does leave some concern for how strongly it will be marketed since the two sides of the production split reasonably amicably in late 2013.
The cast for the film includes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, , Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Sally Hawkins.
Plot concept: An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
You do know that the scale in these posters are exxagerated on purpose for dramatic effect… Right?
