With The Walking Dead ratcheting up all sorts of rating goodness as well as plenty of general buzz and social media positives, it’s not a surprise that others are trying to find a way to make it work for themselves. Enter Babylon Fields, which was originally a pilot done for CBS back in 2007 that wasn’t picked up. That work had some interesting cast members to it, including Ray Stevenson, Amber Tamblyn, David Patrick Kelly, Kathy Baker, Leila Arcieri, and Jamey Sheridan. While it didn’t pan out, NBC is attempting to see if they can make it work with the original writers for it, Gerald Cuesta and Michael Cuesta, along with Michael Atkinson with 20th Century Fox producing it.

The first bit of casting has landed for the project, which is described as “a town’s residents coming back from the dead,” with Meagan Good nabbing a part. She’s set to play Janine Beltran, a local doctor with an edge to her.

Plot concept: In Babylon Fields, the dead are rising in Babylon, NY, and as a result, lives are regained, old wounds are reopened and families are restored — for better or worse. The newly regenerated bodies are healing faster and growing stronger than anyone else leading to the suspicion that they might be the next step in human evolution.
