But if you’re going to cater to fans, what better way than holding an entire exhibition for re-creating famous anime food.
The Association of Japanese Animations started the ‘Animesia‘ (anime eating joint) project where the Association and restaurants realize dishes depicted in anime and serve them.
AJA will hold an exhibition about the project at the Tokyo Anime Centre in Akibahara in February.
The anime dishes which they are preparing now are:
- Girls und Panzer: Spam onigiri, Tank cake. (Spam onigiri is also a Hawaiian specialty.)
- Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit: Motsu-nikomi (stewed offal) donburi served at the stall, Tanda’s edible wild grass soup.
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica New Feature: Rebellion: Rāmen of Kyōko’s favourite restaurant.
- Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel: Crêpe Okonomiyaki.
- The Castle of Cagliostro: Meatball spaghetti, Prosciutto cotto and Prosciutto di San Daniele, which Lupin III ate.

On a related note, Uehashi Nahoko, the author of Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, also wrote Balsa’s Table, a book which consists of excerpts related to food from novels by Uehashi, essays on food, and recipes for dishes depicted in novels by her.
