One of the things that I always loved about comics when I was growing up as the direct market was taking shape was that publishers got to experiment a bit with original graphic novels beyond the usual monthly books. I still remember when the first few came out in the early 1980’s as part of the Marvel Graphic Novel line as The New Mutants and then X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills arrived and showed what the format could do. While that line ended a couple of decades ago, Marvel Comics still does these original graphic novels and the latest one to debut is the May 6th, 2014 release of X-Men: No More Humans. To help raise awareness of the book, which is written by Mike Carey with artwork by Salvador Larocca, they’ve put together a pretty nice little trailer for it. Check it out below.

Plot concept: The X-Men awaken to find the all the world’s humans gone. From normal everyday folks to the Avengers and Fantastic Four, all homo sapiens have disappeared. It’s up to the disparate sides of the X-Men to come together, get to the bottom of this mystery and find a way to get the humans back. But do all of the mutants want their human brethren to return? From best-selling author and classic X-MEN scribe MIKE CAREY and superstar artist SA LVADOR LARROCA comes the first X-MEN OGN since the classic X-MEN: GOD LOVES, MAN KILLS.
