Vertigo Comics Series ‘DMZ’ Getting Syfy Adaptation

DMZBrian Wood has a lot of works out there over the years of working in comics and one that’s gaining new attention is the 72 issue series DMZ that began in 2005 and ended in 2012, which was created with Riccardo Burchiellie under the Veritgo Comics imprint of DC Comics. The adaptation is being shepherded by former Mad Men producers Andre and Maria Jacquemetton along with David Heyman, producer on Gravity as part of the deal with Warner Bros. TV that the Jacquemetton’s have. The series is being set up for the Syfy channel with collaboration through the Warner Horizon division of WBTV.

The news is well timed as the first deluxe edition of the series has just been released in comic shops and will see wider release on February 11th, 2014.

Plot concept: DMZ  is set in the near future and centers on a young man trapped in Manhattan, which has been turned into a demilitarized zone (DMZ) after a second American civil war.
