What They Say:
Kou comes to a certain city, in search of his older brother Takumi, who ran away from home and disappeared. Thinking it’d be rather difficult to find his older brother, Kou decides not to go back until he finds him… but he ends up finding him immediately. However, when Kou is reunited with Takumi, he had become the head of the Mikuni Detective Agency. Takumi appears to have no intentions to go back home. Kou then decides that if his older brother isn’t going to come home, he’s going to stay at the Mikuni Detective Agency.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With the gang off on their latest mission, they’re in some strange underground lair where they have to be careful in how thy get past it, but it’s just so absurd that it leads to chaotic and comical incidents. It’s like a series of areas that’s done in a surreal way, from bright and garish to dark and terrifying. And everyone is just freaking out for different reasons as they try to navigate it. Add in a little bit of conniving from some of them to achieve separate and unrelated goals and it’s almost every person for themselves, at least until they find a huge purpled weird rat/mouse monster, which is what they were trying to find apparently.

What?

In Summary:
Strange+ is the kind of show that has a certain bit of flair and style about it that is definitely quite alluring since it isn’t bound by the restrictions of a normal series. Which is definitely part of the charm of short-form anime series. But it also has the problem of not being able to really set things up in a way that really allows you to get into it. You just have to sort of ride the weirdness and latch onto whatever you find amusing. This one definitely goes for the weird and you could probably build a whole show out of it, but it’s a rough work to really connect with.
