FUNimation is currently simulcasting the ten episode series for Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha and it’s doing pretty well with our review team as well. With the show moving right along, FUNimation has brought out the opening and closing sequences for the series on YouTube where they’ve got full subtitles to them. The opening song, Kyou no Koiiro, is sung by May’n while the ending song, SAVED, is done by Maaya Sakamoto. FUNimation simulcasts new episodes of the Inari Kon Kon simulcast every Wednesday at 12:30PM Eastern at http://funi.to/InariKonKon.

The show is based off of the 2010 manga series of the same name by Morohe Yoshida. It’s currently got six volumes published in Japan. The manga series is the first full ongoing title from the creator after doing the Star Ocean 2 Second Evolution adaptation. The series is being directed by  Toru Takahashi, who has largely done just episode direction and storyboards over the years. Of note, he was an episode director on ten episodes of Revolutionary Girl Utena and did some work on Azumanga Daioh as well. The series is being adapted and scripted by Touko Machida who has a very extensive list of credits across numerous shows from Karneval to Lucky Star and some Sayuki material. The animation is being done by Production IMS, marking this as their first full on production after assisting on Fantasista Doll and Mushibugyo.

Plot Concept: Fushimi Inari has a hopeless crush on her classmate Tanbabashi. One day, while trying to interact with him, she accidentally humiliates him in front of the whole class. He refuses to accept her apologies, and, to make matters worse, she discovers that he probably has a crush on their incredibly cute classmate Sumizome.

She has all these things in mind when she is summoned by Uka-no-Mitama-no-kami, a pale fox goddess. In return for rescuing a little fox-spirit creature before school that day, the goddess offers to grant a single wish of Inari’s. Without thinking, she blurts out that she wants to be Sumizome. As one might expect, this wish does not go nearly as well as Inari had hoped, and the kindly goddess breaks a goddess-rule to give Inari the ability to change herself back. Now, Inari can change her own shape at will, and using her new skill is very tempting as she keeps trying to win Tanbabashi’s heart. But if Inari flaunts her ability, both she and the goddess might end up in trouble with Amaterasu!
