‘Sheltered’ Feature Gains Director

Based on the comic series of the same name by Ed Brisson and Johnnie Christmas, Sheltered has found a director in Jesse Payronel. Payronel was last seen working as writer on the Dracula TV series and is looking to write and direct this adaptation of the Image Comics series that deals with the pre-apocalypse that goes horribly wrong. Plans are for it to start filming in late 2014 with Walking Dead producers Circle of Confusion shepherding it.  will write and direct a film based on the Image comic Sheltered, according to Hollywood Reporter. Payronel has one film under his belt, the indie feature Siren. Circle of Confusion, which produced The Walking Dead and has a number of other comics-based projects in development, is producing.

Comic Concept: The comic is a preapocalyptic thriller set in a survivalist compound somewhere in the Pacific Northwest and populated by families who believe an imminent volcanic eruption is about to make the U.S. uninhabitable for years. Yet the adults are unprepared for a strike from within in the form of a coup d’etat by the kids, led by a charming sociopathic teen.
