‘iZombie’ Comic Series Getting Pilot Order

2 min read

iZombiePilot season is in full swing at most of the networks these days and The CW has added a second comic book property to a pilot order after previously getting one in for The Flash. The newest order they put in is for a title called iZombie, which is based on the mature comics line from DC Comics, Vertigo, that was created by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred. The series ran from 2010 to 2012 for a total of twenty-eight issues that have been compiled into four collections. The pilot is being produced by Rob Thomas, who is also writing the pilot, along with his regular collaborator of Diane Ruggiero. The pair worked together on the Veronica Mars series for the three seasons it ran and for the upcoming feature movie.

The story stars Gwendolyn Price, a zombie who needs to eat a brain once a month to maintain her intelligence. In the process, she gains the memories of the person whose brain she consumes — using that to help solve murders. According to Deadline, the “iZombie” TV show is planned as a “supernatural crime procedural.”

According to Deadline, “iZombie is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.”
