Wonder MomoClassics do come back in new forms and we’re seeing that with Namco Bandai bringing back the 1987 arcade game character of Wonder Momo in a new anime property. A new game is hitting from Way Forward, clothing is making the rounds and Udon is releasing a graphic novel adaptation in North America which is why it’s definitely a positive that Crunchyroll will be handling the anime streaming to try and ride the potential wave. The series, which begins Thursday and will run for five episodes at about five minutes long, is produced by studio Graphinica, Inc. It’s being directed by Yutaka Kagawa based on scripts by Ayumi Inabe, which is working off the original graphic novel material by Erik Ko and Jim Zub.

Plot concept: One day, a group of aliens planning to take over the Earth invade Tokyo. Momoko, who aspires to be an idol, gets involved in the fight in an unexpected form. Warudemon, king of the alien empire, uses various tactics to hunt down Momoko and the people around her. Momoko has decided to stand up to the Warudemon plain and simple.
