While more and more shows do get picked up and simulcast outside of Japan every year, there are still those that don’t for a variety of reasons. One of them is getting a new series this year, making it the fourth one as it follows three other series that ran for 51 episodes each, with third one completing this coming spring. Pretty Rhythm is getting a new incarnation that will debut on April 5th, timed with the new film that’s opening on March 8th, that’s all based on the arcade game franchise of the same name from Takara Tomy. Tatsunoko Productions has been animating the show, which has a good deal of merchandise spinoffs as one would expect. The third series that’s currently airing was a break from the first two with new characters, but according to the promotional image that was revealed by Takara Tomy, it looks like this one might include all of them and new characters.
Original series concept: Prism Stars are performers on the new popular ice show, Prism Show. They are superidols whose techniques, singing and fashion sense are a cut above all others. Aira and Rizumu are two Prism Stars whose goal is to become the best, the Prism Queen. However, the road to success is bumpy.
