Strange+ Episode 2
Strange+ Episode 2
Protecting a wealthy high school girl isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

What They Say:
Kou comes to a certain city, in search of his older brother Takumi, who ran away from home and disappeared. Thinking it’d be rather difficult to find his older brother, Kou decides not to go back until he finds him… but he ends up finding him immediately. However, when Kou is reunited with Takumi, he had become the head of the Mikuni Detective Agency. Takumi appears to have no intentions to go back home. Kou then decides that if his older brother isn’t going to come home, he’s going to stay at the Mikuni Detective Agency.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With the first episode throwing anything such as setting up the show out the window and just going for the comedy, I didn’t really expect any different from the second installment. This one has the group going in to work for another wealthy man by serving as bodyguards for his teenage daughter Kiyoko, who is potentially going to be kidnapped. Quite possibly by Takumi since he’s got quite the eye for the girl. Kiyoko uses it as an opportunity to have friends for a bit and do normal things like eat fast food, which confuses the group as a whole, but they’re mostly up for it. It’s mostly light and empty material but it’s fun watching Kou trying to wrangle the group to treat her right during all of it.

In Summary:
While not as slapstick as the first episode, it has its moments as we see the group guard the cute girl for her wealthy father as she experiences a normal life to some degree. There are some comical references, including a great Sailor Moon one and the improper use of panties and event some comical shoujo framing. But it’s still a show that feels kind of empty since you’re still trying to get a handle on everyone and how the group dynamic works. If it had just spent a bit more time making it clear who was who before and their connections to each other it would have been easier to slide into this show.
