Sometimes you just just have to love the way a promotional campaign can work, especially with its early targeting of the right audience. Ahead of the upcoming release of Robocop in February, Sony has put out a new four minute video that gives us this: ED-209 clips from CES 2027: RoboCop – Omnicorp Announcements & Reactions. How can you not like that it plays it straight by promoting the materials in the film and tying it into CES, which just happened in the real world, and utilizing footage from it in order to promote the film. It does the two minute or so presentation, drops in some fun reactions and hits up a short commercial, making for a good mood setter in general.

The film comes from Jose-Padhilha and stars Joel Kinnamon, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Plot concept: The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
