Things are looking up for manga property Witch Craft Works from Ryu Mizunagi as Random House has started to list it on their distribution site and Amazon has it based off of that as well. The listings indicate that it’ll be released by Vertical, who is declining to comment at this time, and that the first volume is slated for a September 30th, 2014 release priced at $12.95 for the 180 page book. The title from Mizunagi began in 2010 and just released the sixth volume in Japan, while also kicking off an anime adaptation this season, which puts it in the sweet spot for being picked up by a publisher.
Plot concept: Takamiya Honoka is a regular student whose only problem seems to be that he sits next to Kagari Ayaka, the school’s #1 beauty. They have never spoken to each other before and any small interaction between them immediately results in her fanclub beating him. Yet when a falling part of the school’s building is about to send him to the afterlife, it’s Kagari that comes to his rescue. Only… she’s dressed as a witch, carrying him in her arms and floating on a broom?! Kagari tells him it is her mission to protect him and that now she can finally protect him openly rather than undercover.
