Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time Episode 1 | TFP Review
Library-chan: Awesome OP and ED, HanaKana being trolled every episode. What more can you ask for?
Nork22: This. HanaKana being trolled hard.
EyeOfPain: I was expecting something a bit more surreal from this show, but the first episode kept me amused for a couple minutes.
Hitsugi Amachi: I hope this isn’t going to be a one-joke show repeated ad nauseum. As it was, the one joke they trotted out this episode was funny…for about a minute. After that, it didn’t really get much funnier.
TAS: I expect it will be, just with the distraction getting more outrageous each episode and still no one else notices.
It might work as a running joke in a small part of regular show, but on it’s own I expect it will get old fast.
Sabure: Well as long as they keep the material fresh and interesting, a one-joke show can actually work out. Plus the 7-minute episode format is perfect for this type of show in my view.
As for the episode, it was pretty entertaining. Also I used to play dominoes as a kid so I got a bit of nostalgia from watching it.
bctaris: Pretty fun. I quite like it, and it’s a solid concept for the gag category of short-form. I do very slightly share the concern that maybe it could get old, but only because it may be a couple minutes too long. But as long as I know going in, now, what the one-track joke is going to be, I’m fine with that. It’s animated nicely for what it needs to do, and there’s a deep well of increasingly clever ideas available. I certainly won’t feel like I’ll be wasting my time.
Also, second season in a row, one of the better EDs is in a short. Go figure.
Buckeye: Ah, yes. Dominoes, just like I remember it except that this time, Seki is using erasers for his amusement. This certainly brings back memories of cartoons that I watched that involved dominoes, and there are just so many amazing things that they could do. Well, since this is a short format that I guess I might consider watching this (although I would like to first see what Onee-chan ga Kita and Strange+ bring to the table first). In any case, that was entertaining.
GingaDaiuchuu: I usually don’t even bother with short-episode shows like this anymore, but this one was actually pretty good. It made good use of being a few minutes longer, as it let the gag really develop as fully as it clearly wanted to. It’s like the many other series with such short episodes that they can only do one gag, but the length of this strikes an uncommon balance that allows it to be paced as if it was in a full-length episode, rather than having to rush it to the point that there’s no sense of comedic timing. I could see it either coming up with a lot of different and fun ideas to explore or becoming annoyingly repetitive, so I’m not sure how long I’ll be following it at this point. But even for an entirely forgettable little trifle, I liked it more than most of the first episodes of the season I’ve seen so far.
Momoka Kibi: This has some potential to be amusing, but it’s probably for the best the episodes are around 7 minutes or so. Especially if they develop a pattern to the theme. Where in one episode he might be playing with Legos, but in the next episode he’s knitting a scarf as two made up examples. So pretty much this anime is what happens when a girl pay too much attention to a random guy & feels the need to comment about things.
stardf29: CTS: Compulsive Tsukkomi Syndrome. An affliction that affects many an anime character.
Nork22: Amendment: it affects many anime characters who are sane.
Sensuifu: Maybe her white hair was caused by all the stress she has over Seki’s peculiarities
