Recently, My Sister is Unusual Episode 2 | TFP Review
sonic: Reading the comments and reactions to this show is more engaging and entertaining than watching the show itself, ha. The premise as described in this episode is absolutely ridiculous and nothing short of an excuse for some rather risque content to sell things to the hardcore siscon, and apparently pee fetishist, crowd.
Jun Kuga: Don’t let anyone ever tell you I don’t give shows a fair chance. I bit the bullet and gave the second episode a chance and…
They should really call this show Recently, My Sister Has A Weak Bladder
I can’t believe they pulled the same caught with her panties down routine for two episodes. Then there’s the change from the less obtrusive floating locks, to the “We are going to only let you look at 1/3 of the screen” censorship. Not that I want to watch what’s behind the blackness, but it bugs me when a show has to stoop to those lows. Seriously, if they want to make a Hentai, make a Hentai. Don’t make softcore porn censored for general TV Viewing.
I think I’m done with this. I was hesitant to even give episode 2 a whirl, but it would need an almost heavenly turnaround to come back from this start.
sonic: Funny you say heavenly because the plot is about how Hiyori needs to hook up with her brother to fill the heart gauge which will assemble the steps for her to make it into Heaven. So, Hiyori’s actions are divinely sanctioned because it’s all necessary to pass on? I’m not so sure that door is really Heaven’s Gate…
Momoka Kibi: To be honest, with the censorship issue you spoke of, I’d say even if a person enjoyed the series they’d be better off just waiting for the DVD/BD release anyway. I mean there’s enough to watch in a season without wasting time on a version crippled for the obvious reasons. Although uncensored or less censored can be a blessing & curse depending on the show.
bctaris: That’s what got me about the first episode (which I guess I’m commenting about here even though I don’t have much intention of even watching this second episode). It’s both lame envelope pushing, and obnoxious teasing and blatant commercialism (I know, more than usual for anime) to entice people to get the slightly less uncensored physical release, for which this is all a pandering commercial for (again, more than usual).
Hitsugi Amachi: Yeah, they went there for this episode. At its base, there might be a cute (if somewhat bland) romantic comedy contained within this show somewhere, but it’s drowned out by the “ooh, it’s incest, except we’re going to cheat by having them be step-siblings so it isn’t really, but you can pretend it is” in addition to the weak bladder humor which they’ve used now two times in a row, when once was really enough.
“Lame envelope pushing,” as bctaris put it, is right. Well, Saturday has become a really crowded watching day for me for many reasons, but now I can free up another half hour.
sonic: Actually, since the ghost, Hiyori, says she was Yuuya’s real life sister before she died, at least from what she can recall, then it is both incest and psudo-incest at the same time.
TAS: To answer my own question… yes it was stupid.
