Series based on games tend to get less notice overall, especially when they come from trading card games, but Z/X Ignition is one that looks like it has a bit more going for it with its design and approach compared to others since it’s not pure card play material. The anime adaptation of Z/X Zillions of enemy X, which is getting the shorthand of Z/X Ignition, now has its second promo out ahead of its premiere, which is going to be simulcast by Crunchyroll. The new promo clocks in at two minutes and has a good bit of material to it. The show is based on the trading card game of the same name by Broccoli and Nippon Ichi Software that debuted earlier in 2013.
Plot concept: The story is set in the not-so-distant future. Five “Black Points” suddenly appeared around the world as portals to parallel worlds. Immediately after, strange creatures began their invasion from these portals. These creatures are the inhabitants of five worlds — the same worlds in different timeframes. In order to ensure their own future timeframe survives, each of the five invasion forces battle to wipe the other future timeframes out. The key is one card-shaped device.
