Short-form anime series Pupa has a bit of new information out that reveals what the home video release will be like for it. With the episodes clocking in at under five minutes each, it’s welcome to see that the twelve episode run is getting a single disc release rather than spread out. The show is set for a March 28th, 2014 debut on Blu-ray for 6090 yen while the DVD will set you back 5040 yen. The release will contain some event footage and promotional material to be determined as well as having some deleted scenes that probably didn’t work for the TV broadcast.

The adaptation is based on the horror series that kicked off in 2011 by Sayaka Mogi and was originally set for broadcast alongside the release of the fourth volume of the manga that comes from Comic Earth Star.Studio DEEN is producing the series and it will be directed by Tomomi Mochizuki, who directed a variety of shows from Here is Greenwood to Kimagure Orange Road and was also the creator for Fancy Lala.

Plot Concept: The “life-and-death sibling” story follows Utsutsu and Yume Hasegawa, a boy and his little sister who find themselves all alone. One day, Yume sees a mysterious red butterfly and her body undergoes a strange metamorphosis—into a creature that eats humans. Utsutsu struggles to find a way to restore his sister.
