Add another old school anime classic getting a Blu-ray release in Germany by KSM with Captain Tsubasa making the leap. The 128 episode series looks to be getting two collections that will be out this year, splitting the series in half with 1350 minute sets due out on March 17th, 2014 and June 16th, 2014, both of which are priced at about 30 euros each. It’s expected to be similar to other releases in that it’s in German only rather than bilingual, but for those wanting to check out the show in high definition it’s definitely an affordable way to sample. The series comes from the manga of the same name by Yoichi Takahashi and aired starting in 1983 while going through to 1986 and having several spinoffs along the way. The original manga ran for 37 volumes between 1981 and 1988 in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Plot concept: Tsubasa Ozora moves to the town Nankatsu to increase his skills as a soccer player. He is challanged by the Super Goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi. He then agree to compete and see who was the best soccer player there.
