Miss Monochrome Episode 13 (Finale) | TFP Review
Jimmie M: Miss Mono is finally on her way to becoming an idol & has her first real fan thanks to a certain jolly old elf. Merry Christmas, Miss Monochrome! Plus we now have the real meaning behind the ED song-It’s her debut single! Hopefully we’ll see where she goes from here if there is a second season but for now, this was pretty enjoyable & thus gets a 6/10 from me.
Buckeye: And so, this show ends with Monochrome finally on her way to stardom. It took lots of failed attempts and misunderstandings, but she finally got what she wants. It took some intervention from a certain bearded guy from the North Pole, but all is well.
Overall, this show was fun to watch if only to hear Yui Horie speak with a synthesized voice. Given that each episode is only three minutes that there just isn’t the time to develop a story. It’s a lot of random stuff mostly, and it’s satisfying enough. I don’t expect much to come out of these shorts, but it certainly has been fun even if this show does not have much to offer given the format.
EmperorBrandon: Nice to end on an episode that doesn’t have Miss Monochrome fumbling her idol attempts again. While it doesn’t seem she stood out to the crowd, she did get one cute little fan. And Santa is quite generous with his gift this year. Merry Christmas, Miss Monochrome!
bctaris: I managed to watch this on the 25th, so I was glad at least one show I followed this past season had a Christmas episode…
I think this was my favorite of the shorts in 2013, mostly judged on how well something uses the time it has. …Monochrome did everything well, playing with the time restraint–experimenting with several styles and allusions–while telling an organized story of little parts that could stand alone. It managed to create sympathetic characters (Roomba, Manager) a villain (Mana), and even an epic back story that followed through (stopping the aliens the second time; reconnecting with Kikuko).
It also had one of the best EDs of the year.
