We haven’t heard much about what’s going on with Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting – Rising home video release yet and now that’s being settled as the details have started to surface on Amazon Japan. The first half of the season, which clocks in at twelve episodes that’s currently being simulcast via Crunchyroll, will come out in a box set for both DVD and Blu-ray rather than a series of singles. The sets are due on March 19th, 2014 and the DVD set will retail for 15750 yen while the Blu-ray set will retail for 18900 yen.

The sets are fairly straightforward as it will get the Japanese audio in PCM stereo and will include the clean opening and closing sequences and is planning for an audio commentary as well. The release will come with a booklet as well, whose contents will be revealed at a later time.

Plot conceptHajime No Ippo is a Japanese boxing manga written and illustrated by George Morikawa and has appeared in Weekly Shonen Magazine since 1989. After being frequently bullied as a child, Ippo’s encounter with the sport of boxing inspired him to think about what true strength really is. Ippo has endured the kind, yet rigorous, instruction of Coach Kamogawa and defeated one powerful opponent after another. He mastered his signature punch, the Dempsey roll, and even became the champion of all Japan. But even as champion, he still hasn’t found the meaning of “true strength”
