Set for release on May 16, 2014, some new material has come in ahead of the debut of the first full trailer that’s expected this afternoon for Godzilla. The simple plot for the film has been revealed as well as the first trio of images, which comes at the same time that USA Today has a new piece up with Gareth Edwards, director of the film, providing a few snippets about his approach to the film:
“To me, he’s like a force of nature, like the wrath of God or vengeance for the way we’ve behaved. If this really happened, it would be like Sept. 11. I want it to be epic. I want to get the hairs on the back of your neck up.”
“I’ve just got a secret fantasy—well, it’s not very secret anymore—about living in a world where there’s fantastical things like giant creatures and what it would really be like and trying to take it seriously. And there’s no bigger or better icon than Godzilla.”
Plot concept: An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
