Add another actor to the cast of The Strain now that it’s gotten its pickup and more things are being fleshed out for it ahead of its 2014 premiere. The latest to joing the cast is former Southland alum Regina King. She’ll be playing the character Ruby Wain, who is decribed as the :smart and accomplished manager of philandering rock star Gabriel Bolivarot.” The series recently got its first season order for thirteen episodes and is projected to get between 39 and 65 episodes depending on how things go when all is said and done, making this a series worth checking out.
Plot concept: The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
