With the news a bit ago that World of Warcraft had opened its production offices and is looking at a production date has been set for January 13th, 2014 in Vancouver for the feature, the casting news has hit. And rather than tease it out, a bunch of things have hit at once as the casting information comes directly from Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures. The deals they’ve closed involve:

  • Ben Foster
  • Travis Fimmel
  • Paula Patton
  • Rob Kazinsky
  • Toby Kebbell

They also state that they’re finalizing things with Dominic Cooper to star as well. The film has a planned March 11th, 2016 release date under the guidance of director Duncan Jones.

The plot of the film is supposedly bsaed on The Last Guardian novel, but that has not been fully confirmed at this point in time, and it could just be using it as a launch basis for things.

“The Guardians of Tirisfal: a line of champions imbued with godlike powers, each one through the ages charged with fighting a lonely secret war against the Burning Legion. Medivh was fated from birth to become the greatest and most powerful of this noble order. But from the beginning a darkness tainted his soul, corrupting his innocence and turning to evil the powers that should have fought for good. Torn by two destinies, Medivh’s struggle against the malice within him became one with the fate of Azeroth itself…and changed the world forever.”
