While most shows do get picked up for simulcast, there are always those that slip through the cracks for whatever reason. So getting an early nod that a show is getting a pickup elsewhere in the world definitely helps to indicate that it’s likely to get a pickup here as well. The first one we’ve seen for this is Witch Craft Works, which is listing Kodansha as the main distributor for it overseas, as the show is going to be a part of the winter season on the Anime Digital Network service in France. The series, which was announced back in November of 2012, kicked off in 2011 as manga from Ryuu Mizunagi and in good! Afternoon and has a few volumes to its name so far. The anime adaptation is being handled by JC Staff with Tsutomu Mizushima directing and handling script supervision.. He’s partnered up with Michiko Yokote on the scipts while Reiko Yoshida is handling the character designs.

Plot concept: Takamiya Honoka is a regular student whose only problem seems to be that he sits next to Kagari Ayaka, the school’s #1 beauty. They have never spoken to each other before and any small interaction between them immediately results in her fanclub beating him. Yet when a falling part of the school’s building is about to send him to the afterlife, it’s Kagari that comes to his rescue. Only… she’s dressed as a witch, carrying him in her arms and floating on a broom?! Kagari tells him it is her mission to protect him and that now she can finally protect him openly rather than undercover.
