Taking a bet on the new anime series that’s debuting in January, Seven Seas Entertainment has announced they’ve acquired the rights to the D-Frag! manga. The series kicked off in 2008 in Comic Alive in Japan and has had seven volumes released so far. The Media Factory property has done pretty well and Brain’s Base is doing the anime adaptation which will certainly get it noticed, and in turn draw people to wanting to know more of the story that doesn’t get animated down the line, which will hopefully position Seven Seas Entertainment well to capitalize on it. No release information is available yet but we’d hazard a very late 2014 release at the earliest with 2015 more likely.
Plot concept: Kazama Kenji likes to believe he is something of a delinquent. Moreover, others seem to like to agree that he is. Of course, Kenji’s gang finds their way to a group of four not-so-normal girls—Chitose, Sakura, Minami and Roka—and all at once, whatever reputation he may have is nothing compared to the outrageous behavior of the girls. Shanghaied into joining their club, what will happen to his everyday life from that point on?
And we have a winner! Yep! That’s right, manga fans! Seven Seas has licensed D-FRAG! –CC
