Events are moving fast when it comes to Wake Up, Girl! and its plans in Japan. The winter 2014 series is one that’s doing things in an interesting way in that the TV series will debut the same day as the theatrical film debuts, which is January 10th, 2014 on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, TV Osaka, Sendai Housou, and AT-X. The series, which comes from Tatsunoko Productions and Ordet, is directed by Yutaka Yamamoto, who helmed shows such as Kannagi and the recent Senyuu series among many other things such as Haruhi Suzumiya.

While the feature and TV show are debuting at the same time, Avex is striking while the iron is hot and is getting the feature on Blu-ray quickly as they now have a February 28th, 2014 release date for it. And it’s priced at a very affordable 3990yen while also including a CD with it. The CD has the movie theme song and the girls doing a song as well. No other extras are listed at this time as to what might be included.

Plot concept: Green Leaves Entertainment is a tiny production company on the verge of going out of business in Sendai, the biggest city in Japan’s northeastern Tohoku region. The agency once managed the careers of magicians, photo idols, fortune-tellers, and other entertainers, but its last remaining client finally quit. In danger of having zero talent (literally), the president Tange hatches an idea of producing an idol group. On the brash president’s orders, the dissatisfied manager Matsuda heads out to scout raw talent. Matsuda makes a fateful encounter with a certain girl…
