We got our first taste of Vampire Academy back in August and as we get closer to the February 14th, 2014 release date for this obviously perfect Valentine’s Day film, a new trailer has landed. And it’s appropriately placed in front of Catching Fire for a lot of audiences too. Based off of the books of the same name by Richelle Mead, the feature is directed by Mark Waters and written by Daniel Waters. Book adaptations like this can be risky, even if a series is regarded as being better than some of what’s come before, but we’ve seen a few high profile flops of young adult books like this in 2013 and it’s hard to believe it’ll change in 2014 unless something radical happens.

The film stars Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky, Gabriel Byrne, Sarah Hyland, Joely Richardson, Cameron Monaghan, Sami Gayle, Claire Foy, Ashley Charles.

Plot concept: Based on author Richelle Mead’s worldwide bestselling series, VAMPIRE ACADEMY tells the legend of Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) and Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry), two 17-year-old girls who attend a hidden boarding school for Moroi (mortal, peaceful Vampires) and Dhampirs (half-vampire/half-human guardians). Rose, a rebellious Guardian-in-training and her best friend, Lissa—a royal vampire Princes—have been on the run when they are captured and returned to St.Vladamirs Academy, the very place where they believe their lives may be in most jeopardy. Thrust back into the perils of Moroi Society and high school, Lissa struggles to reclaim her status while Rose trains with her mentor and love-interest, Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky), to guarantee her place as Lissa’s guardian. Rose will sacrifice everything to protect Lissa from those who intend to exploit her from within the Academy walls and the Strigoi (immortal, evil vampires) who hunt her kind from outside its sanctuary.
