2 min read

PS4As the latest generation of console wars moves right along, Sony has hit a strong opening debut this weekend with its PlayStation 4. According to the company, it sold through 1 million units in its first twenty-four hours of release. This is significantly different than their 2006 launch, which sold just under 200,000 units in its first two weeks due to high cost and low availability as the materials involved for the Blu-ray player were in short supply at the time. Comparatively, last year Nintendo sold 425000 units of the Wii U in its first week.

These sales are only for the US and Canada as the console lands in Europe on November 29th and Japan on February 22nd, 2014.
