‘Revolutionary Girl Utena’ Anime Debuts On Hulu

1 min read

Revolutionary Girl UtenaThe recent deal between Nozomi Entertainment and Starz (via subsidiary Manga Entertainment) has gotten a lot of Nozomi’s titles out into a wider space for digital distribution, which in turn can sell more DVD releases. The latest push is that Manga Entertainment has expanded from just using their YouTube channel to adding more material on Hulu. They’ve now added, as of this writing, the first thirty-three episodes of Revolutionary Girl Utena to the service. The series runs for thirty-nine episodes and it’s easy to expect the rest will show up soon. Unlike most other recent shows though that have been added to Hulu, this is strictly browser based as Hulu does not have the rights to stream it to TV devices or tablets, nor is there an HD source for it either.

Plot concept: As a child, Utena was consoled and given a special ring by a prince after her parents died. Now a teenager, she attends Ohtori Academy, and longs to be like that prince.
