Having a flippant God in your life is not going to make things any easier.

What They Say:
Kanade Amakusa – a boy cursed with the mental power who will turn any multiple-choice quiz he thinks about into a reality. However, one day in school, he is given another choice: a beautiful girl will fall before him or he will fall from the rooftop in female clothes. Although he chooses the first option and it comes true, he and his new-chosen love – Chocolat – are in for a hilarious multiple-choice adventure.

With last week’s episode providing some rather hilarious lines that surprised me as being used, though I suspect some of it was touched up in translation, NouCome has certainly earned my interest this season. An episode focused on panty related issues isn’t a surprise in a series of this nature, but bringing in banana issues and talking about a fluffer? That raised it up a good bit for me. Having Kanade work through his problems with the way his head works now, complete with narration of choices, definitely makes for some fun and the possibilities are endless with a pervy high school student. Being honest about it like they have been with how the male mind works at that age is comically refreshing.

Kanade’s life since all of this has happened has been problematic at best, but it’s worse with Chocolat in his life, even as she claims to be able to help him undo the curse in some fashion, once they figure out how. Since she’s at school now, she’s proving to be popular in her own way and that popularity makes Kanade deal with even more grief since she finds ways to get him into trouble easy since the guys are into Chocolat and even some of the girls are too. While some are throwing daggers at him, he’s also getting grief from others in the class with Nishino, voted one of the most popular boys in school, is chasing after him in a hilarious way. And it only gets worse from there as all sorts of other guys of different types do the same. And the girls just drool over the whole thing, letting it spiral further and further into hilarious absurdity.

Kanade does manage to find some quiet time to try and find out more about his condition, but it seems like more and more that he’s being singled out in a strong way. Even God seems like he’s setting up for more and more failure and toys with him in some hilarious ways when it comes to Kanade’s porn pictures on his computer. The show works through a lot of weird and quirky moments as it goes on, including the whole Gluebert show concept that gets rolled out with just the right kind of visuals and delivery, and it’s like a constant barrage of things that are just hitting you over and over. While some of it does start to wear you down as it progresses, there’s also some good bits along the way that keeps you laughing and enjoying it. But as much fun as I do have with it, it’s proving to be a bit of a strain too.

In Summary:
NouCome plays up events well here with what it’s doing, though the first half worked better for me than the second half. When Kanade gets into trouble, he’s definitely in a huge amount of trouble. Being chased by a lot of guys that want to just eat him up is priceless. Seeing him cope with the flippant God that’s loving every moment of tormenting him makes it all worthwhile. But sometimes it just feels like the show is on a constant go and that lack of a chance to catch your breath and move on to the next gag harms it. There’s less multiple choice question problems this time around, but what we get is fun and definitely leaves you wanting more.
