I Couldn’t Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job (Yusibu) Episode 4 | TFP Review
EmperorBrandon: Fino goes to work for a day at Lawson! More heartwarming “Fino learns how to do more stuff on the job” material here. I did notice Lam seemed to take special notice of Fino when she saw her the previous time, and I think they’re strongly hinting at her being a demon too. She apparently used to have a similar habit as Fino, and Elza amusingly took it as a horror movie obsession that she needed to keep in check in front of the customers. Also there are mentions of Fino’s mother from her now, which caught my attention as I’m not sure she’s done it before (and that could possibly be connected to Lam somehow too). Nice to not only get some focus on the Lawson employees, but also get Fino interacting with them and some more character growth out of her at the same time.
Hitsugi Amachi: The Fino parts were cute, though Raul being flustered over Nova was a lot less interesting. And it was curious that up to this point, we had not seen Lam-chan’s ears before, but a brief snippet near the end they appeared to be rounded, a more human shape that the pointy “elf/demon” ears that Fino has. I am pretty sure that Lam, with her weird name, is a demon, but one wonders what makes Fino different, and perhaps her mother has something to do with this.
It would have been very hard to keep up the high level of the first few episodes and this one felt like a slight letdown, but perhaps seeds were planted for further developments here (Airi’s little task at Lawson).
bctaris: I really liked the whole bit with Raul and Nova. But then I really like Nova. It was a glimpse into their routine before Fino showed up–except now Fino’s influence has made Raul notice Nova’s charms as he hadn’t before (for whatever reason). The bit of her offering him the opportunity to touch her like ol’ Picard right when the manager calls for her was amusingly timed.
This was a pretty good episode, and a lot more enjoyable than the mess last time. I liked slowing it down to focus on character relationships a little. The story (such that it is) needed this, and what we saw here, with cute little scenes for all the characters, is about what I had expected from this show.
sonic: I felt much the same here. Seeing Fino work at Lawson, make new friends, and learn to control the magic items was a nice change of pace this week. I enjoyed this episode a good deal, especially how Raul was struggling with staying focused, ha. He was also worried about Fino but tried to play his worry down a bit when he saw how she was adapting so well at Lawson for the day. Hopefully the show will keep up with episodes like this one and it will end being more than just an average fanservice show.
